Dipnetting Kenai River 2011
Dipnetting on the Kenai River in 2011: Alaska residents are headed form the mouth of the Kenai River for the 2011 Kenai River Dipnetting Season where salmon fishing is hot in 2011. Although this is a residents only subsistence style fishing experience, just watching the follies is more then enough reason to head over to Kenai Landing where the observation of both the 2011 Kenai River Dip-Netting Season is under way as is the commercial fishing at this location.
Dipnetting on the Kenai River opens on Sunday July 10th and will remain open daily until July 31, 2011.
The Kenai City Council approved a fee increase for parking and camping near the beach for 2011 raising the fees to an astounding $20 for 12-hour parking and overnight camping fees. A better choice is to park at Kenai Landing where there is abundant parking and the services and amenities are far superior. There are lots of great camping spots and areas specifically designated for tent camping too. Some free dry camping is available at the Kenai Walmart as you enter Kenai from Soldotna on the Spur Highway.

Kenai Landing is also the location of the offloading docks for the commercial salmon fishing fleet. There is a restaurant located in the old cannery on the wharf and seating for viewing all the fun that goes on as the summer sun lights up our days and nights too.
